You can definitely see that in my early work. And honestly, even almost 9 years later, I’m not expecting my art to be hanging in any museums anytime soon. So knowing how the internet can be, I decided to embrace it and proudly wear the title. Baker’s self-deprecating approach and willingness to laugh at his imperfections resonate with fans. Jon Baker discussed the evolution of his art explaining that while his skills have naturally improved over time it hasn’t been through structured practice. It’s more about the fact that when you do something long enough, you just get better at it he said. However, his approach to writing and themes has stayed the same. I write for an audience of one myself. I’m happy others enjoy my work but the only thing that matters to me when making a comic is Do I like it? and Does it make me laugh? As long as I’m having fun, I just let the creativity flow.
