Blanche is a Canadian artist whose sense of humor is undeniably out of this world. She likes to laugh and she LOVES to create comics that can make others laugh too.
Having graduated with a bachelor’s degree in comic arts from the Université du Québec en Outaouais (UQO), the artist creates playful drawings that illustrate random life events or an imaginary world filled with mermaids and other creatures.
Blanche mentioned that for her, making comics is a lot of fun. “It’s such a versatile type of art. They also touch on some other types of art that I like, for example, cinema or animated films. Comics are basically a film that you read, there are frames and points of view, characters, narratives, stage, drama, comedy, horror, beauty, and the list goes on. I love it.” We hope you love them too!

Blanche revealed that she has been reading a lot of comics since she was young. Around the age of 13, she decided to draw her own story and that’s how creating comics came into her life.
“I loved drawing since I was a child. In high school, he used to draw endlessly in class. I also liked other types of art, such as theater and improvisation. But comics and drawing, in general, were the one things I couldn’t live without.”

Blanche is inspired by many things, it doesn’t have to be something very special. It can be a situation the artist experienced or something really random that they came up with.
We noticed that a lot of Blanche’s recent comics feature mermaids, so we’re curious if that’s a new fetish of hers! The artist replied that she was participating in a challenge called Mermay. It took place in May and she had to draw a mermaid every day. “There’s a theme and a lot of artists do it every year. Personally, I didn’t have time to do it every day, but I challenged myself to do a mermaid-based comic every time I published one for that month!”

All of Blanche’s comics are done in both English and French. Since she is French-Canadian, it is important that the artist not forget her own roots and language. For English readers, it can also be a great way to learn a bit of French!

“I really like to make people laugh, in real life or not. I make myself laugh with my comics, why not share them with everyone? I love feedback and it’s always heartwarming to see a comment on how my comic made their eyes someone’s day. or they haven’t laughed so much in a long time. As a content creator, I do what I enjoy, I have fun and I don’t always think about how it will affect others. But it does affect people and if I can put a little bit of joy in this world any way I can, I will!”
