I Captured My Family’s Fun Adventures in 18 Comics for My Fireflies Series

As a father of three, I began creating Fireflies Comics as a way to craft stories centered around my children. What started as a personal endeavor quickly blossomed into a passion project and I’m excited to finally share it with all of you. Fireflies Comics has been in the works for six years, focusing on the adventures and everyday lives of a family and their friends. The main characters siblings Ollie, Nova, and Elijah embark on a variety of experiences alongside their parents and friends, forming the emotional core of the series. The Fireflies family lives in Eastern North America, specifically in the Carolinas, offering a perfect setting for diverse and exciting storylines. From the mountains and beaches to local history and countless adventures this area provides endless inspiration. Many of the comic’s ideas are drawn from my own family’s everyday experiences, bringing a sense of authenticity and warmth to each tale.

The idea for this comic came from my desire to create clean, enjoyable reading material for my children. Over time, I noticed that much of today’s media highlights family conflicts and arguments. In response, I wanted to showcase a healthier, 90s-inspired family dynamic one where friendships still come with their fair share of fun and adventure, but without the constant conflict.
