Daniel further shared his thoughts on his approach. I enjoy jokes that aren’t too obvious. I want the reader to engage and think a bit, rewarding them when they catch the joke. It’s all about finding the right balance simple enough to understand, but not too literal or slapstick. As for the randomness, I love the flexibility to explore any topic or genre, without being restricted by specific characters or settings.

When asked about what inspired him to start creating comics Daniel Mok shared. I began drawing for fun around 2019 when I got my iPad. But it wasn’t until the Covid lockdown in 2021 that I started taking it seriously. One day, while driving to pick up takeout, I saw a food delivery person in a mask waiting at a traffic light. I snickered to myself and thought Haha, a masked rider. That’s when the idea struck for a series about childhood dreams being dashed wanting to be a Masked Rider but ending up as a masked rider. The series, ‘Don’t Let Your Dreams Become Memes ended up going viral and from there everything took off.
