Huda’s initial career path wasn’t in comics. She actually majored in English and minored in political science in college, with aspirations of becoming a lawyer. However, she ended up teaching English to middle and high schoolers for eight years. As a visibly Muslim woman in America, Huda often encountered misconceptions and stereotypes. She must have felt frustrated and silenced by these experiences.

It was Huda’s older sister who recognized the potential in these experiences. She suggested turning them into comic strips. Then, she creates an Instagram account to express her frustrations and share her perspective in a humorous and relatable way. Her sister’s encouragement and the power of social media then helped launch her into the world of comics. You can also see her earlier posts by clicking here and Here.
