Andy Ivanov, a young Ukrainian artist who loves drawing cartoons, has created a new cartoon that has captured the hearts of many netizens. The title of the cartoon is “May, the Mermaid of the Lotus Pond.” In addition to the beautiful illustrations that netizens love, the simple yet beautiful storyline has also made many people love it.

While netizens debated whether Ariel from The Little Mermaid should be white or black, Andy thought outside the box: “Why not green?” After watching the cartoon, we might think that mermaids and green skin just work better than you ever thought.
“Huh? What’s that?!”

“Huh, no!!!”

“Please don’t die… I’ll give you the petal of life.”, “Hey, what’s that?!”

“Did you see that strange creature?”

“Here it is… I caught it!!!”

“Great job kid, we got him!”

“What did we do?… She’s not going to make it if she stays here. We have to do something to help her get out…”

“I’ll take you home myself.”

“I’m sorry, hurry up and leave!”, “Hey kid, hand it over nicely or I’ll shoot you, huh!”

“Bang!!!”

“This is the petal of life… what I prepared for you from the beginning.”

“You will survive… You will survive.”

“Huh!”

“… Completely finished…”

Mermaids have been a legendary creature for over 3,000 years. In Celtic legend, they were called “merfolk.” The ancient Syrians also worshipped a goddess who could transform into a fish when she jumped into a lake, transforming her lower body into that of a fish.

Even Christopher Columbus saw mermaids near Haiti in 1493, and described them as “not pretty” and looking more like men. Captain John Smith claimed to have seen a mermaid with green hair in 1614 near Newfoundland and fell in love with her at first sight, only to learn later that she had the lower body of a fish.

Scientists themselves believe that the sightings of mermaids that have been recorded in the past may have been sightings of manatees or dugongs instead, while many still believe that mermaids do exist and that they still live somewhere in the vast oceans of our planet.
